The Beginning.
Hey! I'm DJ Lucky, Steven Donahoo, the founder of DJ's On The Go, LLC. I began the company back in 2009 when we established in North Carolina. I found my DJ beginning when I answered an ad on craigslist. Yup. You ready that correctly. ha! Our small successful business started from answering an ad. The most unlikely place, became a successful business that took my life and grew in ways that I couldn't had imagined.
DJ Services needed.
An ad was placed on craigslist back in 2009 from a local minister looking for someone that had music and needed an assistant to work with at weddings. He would be the officiant for the wedding while I would run the sound and music for the ceremony as well as reception. I was so nervous my first few times, but with practice and help I grew to love the attention and small "performance" I gave when coordinating our clients' weddings. I remember the first set of equipment I had to run these weddings. ha! Looking back now it was very old equipment and didn't look "clean," but it was my beginning and had to start somewhere.
This was in 2009. Probably my 7th wedding in and didn't know what the hell i was doing. ; )
Learning the "ropes."
I grew my music library during my Army times on long deployments and those I've traded with over the years. I was in the US Army when I started my DJ career; stationed at Fort Bragg, NC in the Wounded Warrior's unit. I wanted something to focus on while I was in rehabilitation for an injury and was a music enthusiast, so I had to check it out by answering the Craig list ad. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Becoming a professional DJ has not been easy but has provided for my family and grew my network beyond anything I could ask for.
It took many screw ups to make me the DJ I've become today. So, I apologize to those individuals for the mess ups, but thank them for the opportunity to grow. So, I dedicate my knowledge of what NOT to do to them. ha!
